Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I consulted a doctor for my missed period and was suggested to take a few tests. I got my reports, and my RBC count is 14.4 million cells per mcL, PCV is 38.4 %, and lymphocyte count is 16.8 %. I am concerned if this is normal, considering my condition.
Please help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I have read your query and understand it.
The levels you mentioned (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity) are entirely normal, but since you missed your period, it would be better if you could add more details on the same to conclude the diagnosis.
I hope this helps.
Kindly revert with the details.
Thank you.
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Thank you for the reply.
I have attached my prescription, and I have been taking birth control pills.
Please suggest.
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
I went through the prescription you have attached (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity).
I would like to know your complete history and am looking for your answers to the following;
In case of missed periods after ruling out pregnancy, we look for other causes such as PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome, which is a hormonal disorder causing enlarged ovaries with small cysts), thyroid disorders (dysfunction of the gland in the base of the neck), and others.
I suggest you get an ultrasound of the pelvis, serum TSH (thyroid-stimulating hormone level in the blood), and serum prolactin (to test levels of prolactin (a hormone secreted by the pituitary gland) in the blood).
If these reports are normal, then tablet Meprate 10 mg can be taken twice daily for five days, and you will get your period in two to three days.
Also, irregular cycles can be due to stress, lifestyle changes, and changes in eating habits; if any of these could be the reason, you need to alter them and take the tablet Nexito 10 (Escitalopram Oxalate 10 mg) at night.
I hope this helps.
Kindly revert with the requested details.
Thank you.
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Thank you for the reply.
I have had PCOS for the past seven years, and I have already taken the tablet Meprate 10 mg for five days, and I do not see a change. I have also attached my test reports.
Kindly review and suggest.
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
I have gone through your reports (the attachments were removed to protect the patient's identity) and see that your TSH and prolactin levels are normal, which is good.
If you were diagnosed with PCOS seven years ago, I suggest you get an ultrasound to look for the volume of the ovaries, the number of follicles, and endometrial thickness (thickness of the lining of the uterus).
I suggest you wait for two to three days for the bleeding to occur. If you face this problem regularly, you will have to undergo cyclical hormonal therapy (a treatment to regulate your cycle).
After the ultrasound, some blood tests will also be required to look for PCOS severity; if needed, the treatment will be modified. For now, take tablet Normoz DS (Myo-inositol, D-Chiro-inositol, Chromium Picolinate, and vitamin D2) once daily for a month, which is a nutritional supplement.
I suggest you avoid sugary, oily, and fried food.
I hope this helps.
Thank you.
