What can cause migraine-like headaches, nausea, and digestion issues daily in a person?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 50-year-old woman, and I have not been well for a couple of weeks. I am experiencing migraine-like headaches, nausea, and digestive issues on a daily basis. My doctor thinks it may be due to stress and has put me on a two-week heart monitor. However, during routine tests, my serum iron and total iron binding capacity were high.

My WBC has been low for years. I also have a gene defect for two MTHFR genes, and homocysteine is also high. My doctor is not concerned about the same since my oxygen saturation level is 35.7 percent. My doctor prescribed an anxiety medicine, but I have not started taking it, but I once took medicine for nausea. I have always been anemic prior to an endometrial ablation that threw me into menopause.

Kindly suggest your opinion.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

Vitamin B12 deficiency should be ruled out by serum B12 estimation. However, a psychiatrist needs to be consulted if you have an anxiety issue. Your liver and kidney profile and electrolytes are within normal range. Share your hemoglobin and hematocrit values for better clarity regarding your anemia status. Headache with nausea strongly suggests migraine. So migraine or anxiety seems the most appropriate diagnosis for your condition. Consult a psychiatrist and get your medications.

I hope this helps.

Do follow up whenever needed.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Thank you.
