Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
My friend is physically and mentally fit, but occasionally she suffers from optical migraines triggered by intense light, but has seen her healthcare provider about them. In addition, her mother suffers from epileptic seizures. She is currently fighting a cold, which all of her friends have.
Last night, she was sweating a lot, possibly with a fever, and had fallen asleep three times but kept waking up. Also, she had a full bladder every time she woke up and experienced the same dream.
Finally, she experienced pressure on her chest, which could have been from fear. She is sleeping now and has not had any problems since.
Please help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and can understand your concern.
It is not a seizure, as that would not present this way.
We have to consider the simple things first, like a high fever, for instance. It can cause a confusional state temporarily. Also, sometimes during REM (rapid eye movement) sleep, and if our mind is exhausted, it can act that way.
However, if there were other symptoms like specific weakness in any part of the body after the event or severe headache accompanied by vomiting or urinary incontinence, we would have to look at it from a different angle.
A one-off episode would not be enough to classify it as an organic disease.
Please give me more details, if any, so that I can help you further.
I hope this helps.
Thank you and take care.
