Why am I relying on Combiflam tablet uses for my migraines?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 42-year-old with two children, aged 13 and 3 years respectively. I have had migraine headaches for a long time, the headache is daily or alternate days, and it will not stop until I have a tablet of Combiflam. I do not have nausea or vomiting. I have multiple triggers like too much light, too much sun, heat, too cold, incomplete sleep, loud sounds, and too much talking or hearing.

I do not know when my head started aching. I took Ciplar, Flunarin, and Selibum tablets for two to three months. They do help, but sometimes they are still not able to prevent headaches. I only need to have a Combiflam tablet. Kindly suggest that I am not able to live my life happily because of this.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Your dependence on the tablet Combiflam (Ibuprofen and Paracetamol) may increase in the future. Please avoid Combiflam as much as possible. Other safer options include Naproxen and Paracetamol.

To help prevent this, try the following:

  1. Avoid triggers like prolonged screentime, sunlight, stress, long travel, and alcohol.
  2. Drink plenty of water.
  3. Do yoga on a daily basis.
  4. Topiramate and Magnesium supplements are safer preventive medicines as they do not cause weight gain like Propranolol and Flunarizine.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

How often can I use the above medication, as I have headaches daily, and I also have near and far-sightedness? I have a headache issue so I was not able to adapt to progressive glasses as per advice by an ophthalmologist. I am only using specs for nearsightedness.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I suggest you take preventive medicines that needs to be taken on a daily basis. In addition please avoid the usual triggers.

Thank you.
