Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I have been diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome and have also been trying to conceive for more than three years. I consulted a doctor, and he has prescribed me Metformin hydrochloride. However, it has been three months since there have been any signs of a period. This Metformin hydrochloride medicine was meant to regulate my period.
Please help.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Thank you for your query,
Menstrual irregularities could be due to a hormonal imbalance caused by polycystic ovarian syndrome. Polycystic ovarian syndrome is an endocrine disorder in which hormonal imbalance may be present due to cysts in the ovary, facial hair growth, and weight gain. As it is a lifestyle disease:
1. You have to change your lifestyle.
2. Eat a high-protein diet with lots of vegetables and fruits.
3. Exercise regularly.
4. Check your hemoglobin, hemoglobin A1 c, thyroid-stimulating hormone, and abdominal ultrasound.
Metformin hydrochloride is used for weight reduction in patients with polycystic ovarian syndrome.
Please follow up for further assistance.
Thank you.
