Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have had frequent periods for the past few months. I have been getting it four times since then. I am 17 and was on birth control a few months back, but stopped taking it. I have never had periods this close together before; usually, they have just been late or missing sometimes. What to do?
Please help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I went through your query.
It sounds like you are experiencing some significant changes in your menstrual cycle, and I understand that this can be concerning. Here are a few points to consider regarding your situation:
1. Hormonal Changes: Stopping birth control can lead to hormonal fluctuations, which may cause irregularities in your menstrual cycle. It’s not uncommon for periods to become irregular or for bleeding patterns to change after discontinuing hormonal contraceptives.
2. Frequent Periods: Having your period multiple times in a short span is unusual, especially if you typically have irregular cycles. This could be a response to hormonal changes or stress.
3. Emotional Factors: Breakups and emotional stress can also impact your menstrual cycle. Stress can lead to changes in hormone levels, which may result in more frequent or irregular periods.
4. Consult a doctor: Given your age and the changes you are experiencing, it would be a good idea to consult with the nearest doctor. They can help assess your situation, rule out any underlying issues, and provide guidance on managing your menstrual health.
5. Tracking Your Cycle: Recording your menstrual cycle, including the dates, flow, and any symptoms you experience, can help your healthcare provider better understand your situation.
Your health and well-being are important, so consultation will help.
I hope this helps.
Thank you.
