Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am a 20-year-old female. Sometimes, I get my periods regularly. Sometimes, it gets delayed by a month or two. Nowadays, I am getting this problem often. I gained weight. Can weight gain cause irregularity in periods? How are these both interrelated? How does weight gain affect fertility? Can weight loss boost fertility and make my periods regular? I heard that weight gain can cause infertility. Is it true? If it is so, how to boost fertility naturally to get pregnant naturally in the future after marriage? How to keep the uterus strong and healthy without developing irregular periods?
Please guide.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com
I understand your concern.
Irregular menstruation problems can be due to many things like hormonal imbalance, stress, improper diet, thyroid hormone imbalance, etc. There are many more reasons as well.
According to your query- Can weight gain affect fertility? Yes, but weight gain is due to specific reasons like thyroid hormone imbalance and stress. If weight gain is due to thyroid hormone imbalance or stress, the release of sexual hormones decreases and then affects fertility as well as sexual life. So please check your thyroid profile.
I suggest that you must do regular exercise and follow the proper diet plan for weight loss. Avoid high sugar, high-fat diet, excessive dairy products, and fried food. Regular exercise and proper balanced diet will boost fertility and result in a healthy uterus. Then your menstrual cycle will get back to regular as well.
I hope this helps.
Thank you.
