Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Last month, a week after menstruation I had spotting. I started seeing traces of blood after using the toilet and my discharge appeared like chocolate sometimes. I got UTI tests done and I have UTI and hormonal imbalance. I am taking antibiotics currently. I have been having a normal cycle till last month. But this month my period has been delayed. What could it be?
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and understand your concern.
Irregular menstrual periods could be a symptom of pelvic inflammatory disease which is an infection of the female genital tract. It is also a symptom of hormonal imbalance. Investigations that may narrow the diagnosis include a pelvic ultrasound scan, a high vaginal swab and endocervical swab microscopy, culture, and sensitivity. Since the entrance to both the genital tract and urinary tract lie close to each other, it is not uncommon for both to be infected at the same time.
Kindly answer the following questions if possible.
Is there any abnormal discharge from your vagina?
Is there any pain or discomfort during urination?
Is there any pain during intercourse?
Kindly share the results of the UTI (urinary tract infection) test done for review.
Thank you.
