Can I get pregnant with irregular periods?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am 32 years old. I am unmarried. I have a fear of not getting pregnant and will not be able to satisfy my partner with sex and then I will spoil his life also. I have severe slip disc, sciatica and cervical problem. I had PCOS. My Hb is constant between 8.5 to 9.5, have high uric acid 8 from almost nine months. I have severe body pain. Also, have itching near anus and vagina. Medicines help for a few days then again itching gets worse. I have very very painful periods. Severe cramps and feel continuously like vomiting, cannot eat because of nausea. Very less bleeding, only spotting while urinating for the first two days, only the third day I get bleeding which is also very less. From the last six months it has become little irregular, 4 to 5 it delays. Earlier it was very regular on dates. Not able to lose weight. I am 198 lbs. Tried doing gyming have bodily pains, diet helps for a few days then again it is same. Cannot go for a walk, if I start walking, knees get swelling and pain. Also, I have severe hair fall. I do not get solutions to any of my health issues. I am tired. Willing to marry but fear of not able to conceive and satisfaction to partner makes me take a step back of not getting married.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

You seem to be little depressed. You have to come out of it. For anemia, you may take iron tablets regularly. Eat green leafy vegetables and fruits. For back pain, physiotherapy and back strengthening exercise. For high uric acid, avoid non-vegetarian and animal food (attachment removed to protect patient identity). Use uricosuric drugs. For itching around and menstrual problems, check for polycystic ovarian disease (PCOD) and take medication. Everything is curable so do not worry. Be positive and marry happily. Take care.
