What could be the reason for bloody discharge post-periods for four months?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a female of 20 years old. My question is that I have been having bloody discharge for a week or two after my period ends. It started four months ago. It is a bit worrying for me as this never happened earlier. Any idea as to what is causing this and how to stop it?

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

There could be many causes for your problem. It may be due to polyp or adenomyosis or leiomyoma etc. We have to evaluate for the diagnosis. It is better to get an ultrasound of the abdomen and pelvis along with a complete blood count and get the results reviewed.

Thank you.
