Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have been masturbating since I graduated from school; now I am seeing the penis tip darken and the side become reddish. I am doing it with force, like lying upside down. Even the shape of my penis has changed; it is no longer round but closer to a rectangle. I am seeking your advice. I have had gas since I was a child, and now I am having a throat or nose problem and breathing problems too. There were no issues before. Also, I am seeing a throat and nose doctor.
Kindly suggest.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
Thank you for sharing something so personal.
I want you to know this is a safe space, and it is good that you are paying attention to changes in your body and asking for help. From what you described, darkening of the penis tip, redness on the sides, and even changes in shape, these may be signs of physical stress or irritation, likely from the forceful or frequent way you are masturbating, especially in unusual positions like lying face down (which can put pressure and friction on the penis in unnatural ways).
Darkened tip and redness, friction, and pressure from repeated forceful stimulation can cause skin darkening (called post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation). Redness from irritation or tiny skin trauma, possible minor swelling or inflammation. This is not usually serious, but it is your body’s way of signaling, “Take it easy.”
If you notice your penis is not in the same shape, especially if it is more rectangular or bent, it might be due to:
Repeated bending or pressure during masturbation.
Possible scar tissue formation (if it has been happening for years).
In rare cases, it could be early signs of Peyronie’s disease, which involves the development of scar tissue inside the penis and can cause complications.
Stop the forceful masturbation for now. Give your penis one to two weeks of rest to let any inflammation or irritation settle. Switch to gentler techniques and avoid rubbing against hard surfaces or putting pressure from your body weight.
Observe changes: Improvement in color, pain, or shape is a positive sign.
If the shape remains distorted, or if you feel hard lumps inside or experience pain with erection, you should consult a urologist. The area is gently treated using something mild, like petroleum jelly or aloe vera, if the skin feels dry or irritated.
When to see a doctor:
Pain with erections.
Hard lumps or noticeable curves or bends are developing.
Color worsening or skin thickening.
Any discharge, ulcers, or itching.
I hope this helps.
