I consider using low-level lasers therapy devices such as Hairmax and iRestore. These devices have been declared safe unless skin conditions such as melanoma are present. How can such conditions be identified? I have some freckles (do not seem like moles). How can these be shielded from laser therapy given the health risks?

Yes, I have male pattern baldness and freckles are on the side of my scalp. They are covered by hair. I have shaved my hair and attached the pictures to show the spots. There is no prolonged sun exposure as I tend to avoid staying out in the sun. I want to know if there are no risks present if I use laser treatment devices such as HairMax and iRestore. And how can I block these spots from laser exposure should I need?

Avoid laser therapy as the first line of treatment. Take tablet Follihair once a day after breakfast for three months, Minoxidil 5 percent lotion 1 ml twice daily for three months, and then 1 ml at night for the next three months. Increase protein intake in your diet like nuts, milk, almonds, pulses, lentils, eggs, and dates. Avoid stress. Exercise regularly for 30 minutes to maintain hormonal balance. Apply or massage onion juice extract or aloe vera juice on the scalp as a home remedy. Laser and hair transplant is the last modality when another option does not work.

I already tried these treatments. Minoxidil or Rogaine 5% gave me an itchy scalp. I am on a high protein diet as I train at the gym, crossfit, etc. I also take BCAA, arginine, HMB supplements as a pre-workout and protein shakes post-workout. I do not carry other supplements, such as testosterone booster, which can aggravate hair loss. I have also been taking a hair vitamin supplement for years, which is similar to Follihair. But I am still losing hair. Using the laser, how can I protect the brown spots or freckles from the laser light?

Lasers can also remove pigmented lesions like freckles, postinflammatory hyperpigmentation lesions. They are not a contraindication in laser therapy. But complications can lead to scarring, pigment alteration, texture damage, and local infection. Disadvantages are it is expensive, trained person required in laser, the single laser system cannot treat all, and requires different laser. Low-level laser therapy to stimulate the growth of hair follicles can be tried.
