Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
Two computed tomography (CT) scans a year apart have told me I have nodules on my lungs which have grown from 4 mm and 5 mm to 8 mm in a year. I have asthma and have also experienced tightness in my chest and sporadic coughing. Kindly give your opinion.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com. According to your statement, you have been suffering from tightness in the chest and cough. You have a history of pulmonary nodules. If the pulmonary nodules remain the same size for at least two years, it is considered benign. Usually, benign nodules grow slowly. But, cancerous nodules, on average, double in size every four months, but sometimes as fast as every 25 days. Again, anything more than 8 mm is also considered as malignancy. You can undergo a CT (computed tomography) guided FNAC (fine needle aspiration cytology) or biopsy from the pulmonary nodules, and that will confirm its underlying etiology and then treat them accordingly. I hope this was helpful.
