Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have a lump on my hard palate and the size has increased in the past few days. What to do?
Please help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I went through your query.
A lump or swelling on the palate could be due to:
If that is a common canker sore or an accidental injury, it will resolve on its own within a couple of weeks. You can apply a topical anesthetic gel with a clean finger thrice daily to manage pain. If the corresponding tooth has deep decay, then that swelling could be a dental abscess. Dental abscess resolves by treating the decay.
Please visit your dentist and get it examined to find what is causing your gum swelling and get it treated at once. Meanwhile, you can use warm saline mouth rinses thrice daily or you can take mild painkillers like Paracetamol if the pain is unmanageable.
I hope this helps.
Thank you.
