Does lightning crotch during pregnancy affect the baby?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

The lightning crotch is a pain that shoots to the pelvis during pregnancy. Does it affect the baby during pregnancy?

Answered by Dr. Mashfika N Alam

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

No, the pain is felt only by the mother, and it does not affect the baby. As the baby grows, the gravid uterus puts pressure on the lower limbs and nerves causing shooting pain. The baby is always comfortable, and it is well protected within the uterus.
