What precautions should be taken for lattice degeneration?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

What are the precautions should be taken in case of lattice degeneration? Also, what is the list of don'ts and do's? Kindly help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Lattice degeneration is a weak or a thin spot in retina. You need to get annual retina checkup and look for floaters or flashes. Contact retina specialist if there is a curtain-like appearance in front of your eyes. Avoid excessive strenuous activity. If a family history of retinal detachment or any of the above symptom is present, then consider a prophylactic laser. I hope I have addressed your concerns. Feel free to reach out if you have any further questions. Thank you.
