Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have irritation and redness around the labia. I tested for STD (HSV-2), yeast, UTI, trichomoniasis, chlamydia, and vaginitis, and all were negative. I am using Lotrisone cream, which is not really helping. I also use other medications like Nuvaring and Rizatriptan. I just recently had my period, which made the irritation go away, but I do not know if the pads were protecting my skin or making the irritation fade. Once my period ended, it came back in full force. Please advise.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I thoroughly read your query and understand your concern.

It might be possible you over-treated it. My suggestions for your problem are as follows:

Follow strict hygiene and wear soft, comfortable undergarments. Use condoms to prevent transmission of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). Sit in warm water twice or thrice daily to relieve pain. Do not use chemicals, soaps, and creams locally. You can use soft blades to remove hair. I suggest you have one course of antibiotics, but before that, it is better to send a high vaginal swab for the test. After the swab collection, I suggest you take tablet Doxycycline 100 mg 12 hourly and tablet Metronidazole eight hourly for seven days.

I hope you get my point.

Best regards.
