Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have a stone in my ureter. I am taking painkillers now and had a CT scan. What is the best solution to get it out?
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and can understand your concern.
The odds of passing a stone by taking some medication are good. But, I suggest taking the following medications for ten days and repeating the CT (computed tomography) after one month. However, please consult a specialist, discuss with them, and start taking the medications with their consent. Tablet Tamsulosin 0.4 mg (at night), and tablet Drotaverine 40 mg (morning and night). I also suggest drinking three to four liters of water daily and using a milk strainer while urinating, hoping to catch the stone for future analysis. After all, if you have a stone after one month, I suggest ureteroscopy and laser removal.
I hope this helps.
Thank you and take care.
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Thank you for the reply.
Please check the CT scan of my left kidney.
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
I read your query and can understand your concern.
I reviewed the reports (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity). There will be no issues in the kidney if the stone comes out. As I said, please repeat the scan after one month and try passing urine through a strainer to catch the stone.
Thank you and take care.
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Thanks again. So I have been taking those medications since we talked, and today I woke up with a fever and stomach ache, and I can feel the same pain as before in my back. I drank 5 beers yesterday. Do you think it can be related? Or did I get food poisoning?
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
I read your query and can understand your concern.
Please answer these for a better understanding of your problem:
1. Where is the pain?
2. Is it on the back left-hand side?
3. Is it radiating towards your testicles?
4. Are you having any trouble passing urine, like urgency or burning sensation?
5. Did you also eat something outside that is not cooked at home?
It is very difficult for me to predict whether you had this fever and stomach ache due to the stone or due to the fact you had five beers.
Hope this helps.
Regards.
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Thanks for the reply.
I have the same feeling of pain that I got last time with the ureter stone, but I can pee normally without any burning. My stomach is a little swollen, also. Yes, I went to dinner outside last night, but I ate the same things that my friend ate. I can feel it is from the ureter stone maybe it moved. But what worries me is whether the fever is related or not. I have a fever with fatigue and cannot eat anything.
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
Fine. I would suggest you take some antibiotics along with the medication I suggested last time. It will take care of any infections, wherever they may be. And yes, the pain may be because of the stone moving or passing into your bladder. I suggest the following medications:
1. Tablet Levoflox (Levofloxacin) 500 mg once a day for five days.
2. Tablet Paracetamol 650 mg as and when required in case of fever.
Hope this helps.
Regards.
