Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I have been suffering from kidney stones in my left kidney for the last two years. Initially, it measured around 0.59 inch in the ultrasound report, and then the size went down to 0.23 inch in the recent CT scan. Since I had severe pain and the stone size was not accurately interpreted in the ultrasound that I underwent thrice, my doctor suggested getting a CT scan done. Also, I do not have pain now. However, I experience pain once or twice a month. And now, I underwent an ultrasound four months back, and it revealed a 10 mm stone. I am done with my medications, and I want to ask if I can add cycling and swimming as my regular exercise. Is cycling good for people with kidney stones? It would be great if you help me with this.
Thank you.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Thank you for consulting us on icliniq.com. I went through your query and understood your concern. Undergoing a CT (computed tomography) scan is the accurate method. A kidney stone measuring 0.23 inch, should be treated with shock wave therapy rather than leaving it alone. Then prevention measures like consuming three liters of fluids daily should be considered. In addition, I suggest you take the tablet Urocit K (Potassium Citrate) twice daily. Exercising is great for your body but keep yourself hydrated while exercising. You can eat oranges and lemons, as they are beneficial.
I hope this helps you out. Kindly follow up if you have any more doubts.
Take care.
