What are the effects of consuming junk food?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello,

I am a 22-year-old male, who consumes junk food every Wednesday. I also eat certain south Indian food every Sunday. Is this a bad habit? Should I reduce it? Kindly help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

I have seen the details mentioned. Please understand the average Indian diet (made at home) is a very healthy food plan. It is quite balanced in providing enough carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. Intake of vegetables (raw and cooked), plus fruits in addition to routine diet is a good addition. Our vegetarian diet most often can be a bit less in proteins. So increasing the intake of pulses will help to counter that. Eggs are a good addition.

As regards the habits that you have mentioned (junk foods) are bad in terms of nutritional value. You might eat one or two puris with a good amount of vegetables.

I hope this information will help you.

Thank you.
