Why am I unable to eat outside foods and pass stools immediately after eating?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am having liquid stools within a half-hour of eating. Sometimes four or five times repeatedly. Symptoms were less severe for years, and a colonoscopy showed normal, but I cannot go out to eat or risk eating away from home for over a year now. It is not about any particular food. But alcohol makes it worse. I no longer drink. I am a vegan. I take tablet Loperamide in the mornings when I am working, but they do not stop the symptoms. Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

You have Irritable bowel syndrome. I suggest you avoid spicy food and oily food. Instead, take regular time for food. I suggest you try the following medications:

1. Tablet Pan D (pantaprazole) one tablet twice daily before food.

2. Tablet Librax 5 mg/2.5 mg (Chlordiazepoxide 5 mg and Clidinium 2.5 mg) one tablet twice daily before food.

3. Syrup Sucralflate (antacid) 10 ml thrice daily after food for five days and follow up.

I hope this helps.
