Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I do not suffer from diabetes and maintain a healthy lifestyle. But my parents suffer from diabetes. So, to be on the safer side, I keep checking my sugar levels. However, recently I observed a sudden increase in my sugar levels after eating meals. Is this the beginning of insulin resistance? Please help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I went through your query and understood your concern. It may be due to impaired glucose tolerance. It means your blood glucose is high but not enough to cause diabetes. It may be seen in patients with a family history of diabetes. So, I suggest you do the investigations mentioned below. Do urine complete examination, fasting blood sugar levels, post-prandial blood sugar levels, and glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) levels. The sample should be taken from veins, in the morning after eight hours of fasting. I also suggest you do not take any medications. Try to reduce weight, take proper sleep, and do exercise regularly. I hope this has helped you. Thanks and regards.
