Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I had surgery in my mouth to remove a buried tooth two days ago. The doctor told me to come and remove the stitches one week from now but there is still blood coming out of my mouth and I have swelling on my cheeks and part of my skin next to my lips is purple or dark blue and the inside of my mouth is super red.

Is it anything serious or is it normal after the stitches?

Please help. Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your concern and understand your concern.

Swelling is normal for two to three days in such surgical extraction of the impacted tooth. Continue all medicines given by your dentist.

The wound on the lip may have happened while trying to remove the tooth, it is due to any instrument hitting your lips or even due to biting on your lips when you were under local anesthesia.

Any way slight bleeding can be seen in one to two days as saliva gets mixed with blood. If the bleeding is too much go back to see your dentist. Use warm salt water gargle twice a day for a week.

Thank you.
