What could be the cause of my high IgE levels?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I received my blood report. It is mentioned that my IgE serum level is increased by 4 percent. Also, there is an increase in the level of atopic or non-atopic allergy, hyper IgE syndrome, parasitic infections, IgE myeloma, pulmonary aspergillosis, immunodeficiency states, and autoimmune diseases.

Please explain what this means.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

You have not mentioned the reason for getting this test done. Anyways, most of the doctors send for this investigation considering allergy (to dust particles) in the blood. Hence, the test was done and the report suggested mild elevation of serum IgE (immunoglobulin E), which indicates you have a little affinity for dust allergy. But this is not a very significant rise. Please get a vitamin D test. Hence, take precautions by avoiding dust, regular usage of masks or handkerchiefs, and keeping your pillow covers and bed sheets clean.

I hope that you get your answer.

Please let me know if you need any help.

Thank you.
