How do I manage hyperthyroidism symptoms and high t4 level?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I find I have reduced weight up to 15 lbs, but I do not perform any exercise or do not follow any diet. My menstrual cycle is also irregular for the past five months, my hair is thinning, and I sweat a lot nowadays.

I am worried, and I suspect something might be abnormal. I was asked to take a complete check-up and tests, and my T4 is elevated and is 14. Do I have hyperthyroidism? Any medications I should start with? Any diet changes I need to stick on? Can you add some health or preventive tips?

Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

You send your full thyroid function test results.

As per your signs and symptoms, it must be hyperthyroidism. Are you on any other medications, hypertension, or diabetes?

Tablet Neo-Mercazole (Carbimazole) is used for this condition. Better go to your doctor as per your clinical condition; he will calculate the dose and give it.

I hope this has helped you.

Please feel free to reach out to me again if you have further queries.

Thank you.
