Why do I have hyperpigmentation with irregular menstrual cycle?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am 29 years old female. I have two babies through C-section. I have hyperpigmentation on my face with the irregular menstrual cycle.

Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Hyperpigmentation with irregular cycles mostly follows hyperandrogenism. It may occur due to PCOD (polycystic ovarian disease) and CAH (congenital adrenal hyperplasia).

  1. Do you have excess hair growth on the face?
  2. And is the hair coarse, with dark hair?

Hyperpigmentation is due to a severe hormone imbalance, which is mainly triggered by the androgens in your body. So an analysis of the hormones and correction of the same will help to regain regular cycles and reduce pigmentation.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.
