Hello doctor,

I am a 35-year-old male. I need some information about Hydroxychloroquine.

What is the primary therapeutic use of this medication?

What are the common side effects and potential risks associated with Hydroxychloroquine?

Are there any serious or long-term effects that I should be aware of?

Please give me information on the recommended dosage and administration of Hydroxychloroquine.

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

Hydroxychloroquine is in a class of drugs called antimalarials and is also an antirheumatic drug. It works by killing the organisms that cause malaria. Hydroxychloroquine may work to treat rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus by decreasing the activity of the immune system.

Avoid using Hydroxychloroquine if patients

1. Have you had an allergic reaction to Hydroxychloroquine or any similar medicines, such as Quinolones or Quinine?

2. Have an eye problem that affects your retina or the inside of your eye (maculopathy) or any other eye problem?

3. Are you pregnant, trying to get pregnant, or breastfeeding?

4. Have you got a liver, kidney, or any other blood disease?

The dose for rheumatoid arthritis is 200 mg (milligrams).

I hope this helps.

Thank you and take care.

Regards.
