Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I was exposed to HPV. I had to lie to the doctor about the last time I had a pap smear so that I can get the HPV test done next month. If I come out positive then what steps should I take? I use a menstrual disk and blood-absorbing underwear. Do I need to replace my underwear if I am diseased and it clears up? What about my sex toys? Are they all garbage now or is there a way to clean them? Should I no longer wear my lingerie? I am a kink and fetish model and I do not want to ruin my work clothes. I feel the only way to be safe is to burn everything down to the ground and effectively disappear until I test negative. I want to know if I am positive then what do I need to destroy so that I do not reinfect myself down the line.
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
Firstly, being exposed to HPV does not mean that you are infected.
If you have taken the vaccine then definitely you will not get the infection.
If you are not vaccinated, there are chances that your body's defense mechanism will clear off the infection.
In case, you test positive then you do not need to destroy anything as the virus does not spread through blood or aerosols, it is sexually transmitted.
Regarding sex toys, they do not transmit the virus but if you want then you can clean them with an antiseptic solution.
Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I have just got the two doses out of three and my primary partner has got only one. His potential ex-partner is patient zero and she is the one who exposed us. What about my razors? I have been using a new disposable razor every day because until I test negative I believe my genitals to be toxic.
Hi,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
Even two doses of the vaccine would be protective against the infection so the chances of you having acquired the infection after being exposed are very less.
You can use the razors because the outside genitals are safe, even if you have the infection it will be inside the vagina.
