Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 61-year-old female in excellent health, and I am not currently taking any medications. However, I have been experiencing chronic hives for the past year or so. Despite keeping a food diary, I have been unable to pinpoint any specific cause. Additionally, there have been no changes to my environment, and my stress levels have remained low. Recent blood work has revealed a low white blood count (leukocytes) and lymphocytes, as well as high levels of ferritin, low iron, and high folate. Do you have any suggestions or ideas regarding the potential causes of these symptoms?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern. Your reports (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity) are within normal limits; however, you have a mild iron deficiency that needs to be addressed either through dietary changes or medications.

  1. I suggest you consume iron-rich foods like spinach, broccoli, beans, and sweet potatoes.
  2. In addition, I also suggest you take one tablet of iron once a day after a meal (preferably at night) for 30 days. Please inform me about any changes in your condition after this period (after 30 days).

May I also inquire about your current hemoglobin and RBCs (red blood cells) levels?

Thank you.
