Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I have excess red blood cells in my body. Recently, I had a blood checkup, and it was 16.9 % as per the report. Kindly advise to reduce it. I am 27 years old. I have a little chest pain too when I squeeze my chest with pressure through my shoulders.
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
It is not very much elevated, but borderline and not a matter of worry. Do you smoke? If yes, then needs to stop it. Do you have any breathing difficulties? To reduce excess red blood cells, we need to find out the cause for it like smoking, and need to stop if any. It also occurs in patients with heart or lung disease, but it is not in your case. The pain which you mentioned here is not related to the heart. If no cause is found, then the only way is to remove the blood or donate it periodically. To prevent the harmful effects of it, you should drink plenty of water daily.
I hope this helps.
Thank you.
