Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
My Hb level is 6.2 g/dl, and I consulted a hematologist. A bone marrow examination was done, and took a sample for a FISH test, and the result will be available after a few days. Meanwhile, I was advised to take Livogen and Danazol twice daily. A few days later, I had severe stomach pain and loose motions. Every day I have stomach pain and back pain. I went to a physician and was referred to a gastroenterologist, and an endoscopy was done, and the doctor said I had an ulcer and H. pylori was positive. I was advised to take Rantac and Enbios twice daily. Everyday evening, I have a fever. Still, my hemoglobin level is 6.3 g/dl, and I now have upper back and stomach pain. I am worried and do not know if my Hb will increase. Please advise what to do.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
As per the mentioned history, you have a Helicobacter pylori infection and an ulcer in the stomach. Helicobacter pylori eradication treatment should be done with a triple-drug regimen of H. pylori kit containing Amoxicillin, Clarithromycin, Omeprazole, or Lansoprazole for 14 days. Avoid gastric irritants like excess spicy foods, smoking, stress, excess tea, coffee, etc. Stomach ulcers can lead to continuous bleeding. With the healing of the ulcer, the bleeding will stop, and your Hb will probably improve. The peripheral smear examination reports also can be done if no obvious cause is found and no improvement with the healing ulcer, then a bone marrow biopsy needed. Consult a gastroenterologist for examination and get H. pylori eradication prescription.
Thank you.
