This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am an 18-year-old female with a height of 5 feet and 2 inches and weighs 97 pounds. What should I do to increase my height and also gain some weight? My primary focus is on my height. I want to join the AirForce and I do not meet the criteria when it comes to height. What should I do? Kindly help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

Genetics plays a significant role in determining height. A diet rich in proteins, calcium, and vitamin D is important for bone health. Have a balanced diet and exercise regularly. Participate in sports like basketball, swimming, or volleyball that can help lengthen and strengthen your body. Include light weight-bearing exercises to promote bone strength and muscle development. Maintain good posture to avoid compression of the spine. Sit and stand straight. Ensure you get adequate sleep.

To gain weight.

  1. Increase your daily caloric intake as per your dietician's opinion.

  2. Eat multiple smaller meals throughout the day.

  3. Incorporate protein-rich foods to build muscle mass.

  4. Add healthy fats such as avocados, nuts, and seeds.

Follow up with your treating homeopathic doctor. A physical examination and investigation to rule out any medical condition and the opinion of a dietician or nutritionist.

I hope this information will help you.

Kindly revert in case of further queries.

Thank you.
