Is it normal for a 7-month-old infant to sweat a lot while feeding?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My 7-month-old daughter sweats a lot when nursing or sleeping with her head on my chest. Is this normal? Also, is a heart rate of 90 to 97 beats per minute normal for her when sleeping? I worry so much about her, and I just need a second opinion.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Your description is grossly inadequate to arrive at a clear diagnosis. The birth history, developmental history, etc., are needed. I took two days to conclude, trying to understand the question.

The standard heart rate in a 2-year-old is 80 to 130 per minute. So then the head of the baby sweats a lot as the mechanism of heat exchange in our body occurs through the head in children as the maximal surface area is on the scalp in children.

Relax.
