What could be the cause of a severe headache while reading?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been suffering from severe headaches especially when I am concentrating or reading. Why so?

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have just read your query.

It appears that you have a headache which appears especially when you are concentrating or reading something.

I would suggest that you have your vision assessed by an optometrist or an ophthalmologist. I also suggest you follow the instructions mentioned below.

1. Take a tablet of Paracetamol (painkiller) once daily as and when required.

2. Try to sleep on time for seven to eight hours daily.

3. Have your blood pressure checked.

4. Have your complete blood count and serum cholesterol tested.

5. Drink eight to ten glasses of water daily.

6. Avoid excessive computer, television, and gadget use.

7. Avoid excessive salt intake.

Hope you find my advice of some benefit.

Thanks and regards.
