How to reduce sweating of the scalp and hair loss?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have hair thinning, reduced density, and an open scalp with sweat, sebum, and oily secretions. This is resulting in heavy hair loss and more thinning of hair on the scalp. Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

I would suggest you the following.

  1. Increase protein intake in your diet. Nutrition is key to healthy hair.

  2. Wash the scalp with Scalpe shampoo twice weekly for six weeks.

  3. Avoid oil application as oil acts as food for dandruff.

  4. Avoid excess use of harsh chemicals and shampoos.

  5. Avoid hot shower baths.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for replying.

I workout daily and my scalp gets sweaty every day. Because of the sweat, the hair follicles are getting thinner. Can you suggest ways to control sweating on the scalp? Can I wash my scalp daily with normal water after a workout? I wash my hair twice a week with soapnuts. Is this good? Or should I use the recommended Scalpe shampoo?

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome back to iclinq.com.

I would suggest you do the following.

  1. Avoid activities that cause sweating.

  2. Practice meditation or yoga instead of a rigorous workout.

  3. Avoid using soapnuts.

  4. Avoid stress. Stay relaxed and make yourself stress-free.

  5. Use Ketoscalp (Ketoconazole) shampoo or Scalpe shampoo twice weekly for four weeks.

Consult your specialist doctor, talk to them, and then take the medication.

Do you have a habit of smoking?

Thank you.
