Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have been experiencing hair loss for the past two years, and despite taking efforts, my hair continues to thin significantly. I am unable to consume dairy products due to being a vitiligo patient, although I am fortunate not to have any visible spots on my body. My diet includes meat, vegetables, and fruits. Over time, my hair has become so thin that I am unable to tie it into a ponytail. Although I experienced seasonal hair loss during my school years, it was not as severe as it is now.
I have attempted to address this issue by using magnesium supplements, but the results have been unsatisfactory. I have consulted a doctor who prescribed medications, but they have not yielded any positive effects on my hair. Despite my efforts, including using biotin supplements, hair growth sprays, and specialized shampoos recommended by a doctor, I discontinued their use after two months as they did not provide the desired outcomes.
The severity of my thinning hair is causing me considerable distress, and I am actively seeking guidance and solutions to address this issue. I am open to exploring various options to improve the condition of my hair. Your assistance and advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Thank you for your query.
I am sorry to hear that you are struggling with feelings of depression due to your hair loss. I understand that dealing with this situation can be both emotionally and mentally challenging.
It is important to continue working closely with your doctor or dermatologist to uncover the root cause of your hair loss and explore appropriate treatment options.
Apart from medical interventions, there are also some lifestyle adjustments and natural remedies that you could consider to support the health of your hair and these are as follows:
Nutrition: Prioritize a well-rounded diet rich in vitamins A, C, E, zinc, and biotin. These nutrients are known to promote hair growth and overall hair health.
Hair care: Opt for gentle hair care practices. Avoid excessive heat styling, harsh chemical treatments, and tight hairstyles that might contribute to hair breakage. Choose sulfate-free shampoos and conditioners that would suit your hair type.
Please remember that results can vary among individuals and achieving hair regrowth requires patience and consistency. If you are dissatisfied with your current treatment plan, do not hesitate to discuss alternative options with your doctor. They might suggest different medications or refer you to a specialist.
Additionally, seeking support from your loved ones or a mental health professional can be immensely beneficial in navigating feelings of depression or anxiety related to hair loss. Take care of yourself and give yourself the time and compassion you deserve throughout this process.
I hope my advice would be helpful. Feel free to ask if you have any further queries.
Thank you.
