What medications manage H3N2 infection symptoms?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 32-year-old male. I have had a high fever, sore throat, body pain, cough, and vomiting for the last five days. I have tested positive for an H3N2 infection. So, how can I take care of myself? Do I need to isolate myself from my family members? How long would it take to recover from this infection? Kindly help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

The symptoms of influenza infection usually last for a week. Since it has been five days, antiviral treatment is not necessary. The infective period lasts for several weeks in influenza infection. I suggest you take the medications mentioned below and follow the following instructions.

1. Tab. Paracetamol 650 mg, every six hours after food.

2. Tab. Vitamin C 500 mg chewable tablet once daily after food.

3. Eat a balanced and healthy diet. Consume one to two eggs daily.

I hope this helps you.

Thank you.
