Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
My aunt underwent glaucoma surgery two days back, and the next day, the doctor confirmed everything was normal, and she was fine till yesterday. Today morning when she woke up, there was no vision. We rushed to the doctor; he did a few scans and said there was no internal bleeding or pressure in the eye. He changed one eye drop and said, this is temporary blindness; she will be fine soon. We have the next appointment after three days. Is this temporary blindness or loss of vision? Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Thank you for your query.
I understand your concern. This blindness could be due to many reasons, like a disease of the optic nerve or visual pathway in the brain. Sudden loss is also seen in end-stage glaucoma patients after surgery, which is known as a wipe-out phenomenon. Please kindly share her test reports. I hope this has helped you. Thank you.
