Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I had slight asthma (shortness of breath) symptoms three months ago. After that, I had a gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) problem; for that, I took medication and got cured. I took a gastroscopy, and all were normal. My GI doctor gave me a Tryptomer (Amitriptyline). But now I am affected by shortness of breath and excess saliva. Please help me.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

Hello,

It is probably again gastritis and reflux disease. The refluxed acid goes to the lungs and causes shortness of breath.

Do you also have upper abdominal pain, nausea, bloating, burping, increase in pain on food, sour water feeling in the throat, or chest burning? These are the other symptoms and may be associated.

You should avoid a fatty, oily, and spicy diet. Have some walks after having food instead of taking a rest. Have multiple small meals instead of heavy meals. Have regular sleep habits and avoid stress. Eat lots of green leafy vegetables and fruits. Elevate the head end of the bed or use pillows during sleep and rest. Avoid smoking and alcohol if any.

You can get prescribed tab Pan DSR 40milligrams or Esomeprazole Domperidone combination before breakfast once a day for 2 weeks. You should add syrup Sacral O or Gelusil two teaspoons three times a day for a week.

If shortness of breath is severe then you can pump like MDI Asthalin two puffs whenever needed up to 4 times a day till this is relieved.

Consult with a doctor and take the medicines with their consent.

Thank you for consulting me.

You can always come back and reach me at icliniq.com.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
