My urine culture is normal. How can I relieve testicle pain?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I believe I have an infection in my reproductive tract. I have seen multiple urologists, and all of them have told me nothing is wrong. I refuse to believe that because of the pain in my testicles.

I wish to speak with someone who has experience in microbiology because I have even cultured my urine samples with positive results. I need your guidance.

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your query.

You can opt for other investigations like ultrasound scrotum and semen culture, and sensitivity. Treatment will be planned after investigations. So do follow up with the investigation results.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have had a couple of ultrasounds and an MRI performed previously, but my doctors have told me there has been nothing coming up in imaging, and I do not have access to the images. As far as the semen sample, I plan on asking for one, but my urologist appointment will not be for more than three months.

I am currently trying to contact a microbiologist because I just do not believe the labs have performed my urine cultures properly anyway. I have an MS in molecular biology, so I am hoping to gain access to a facility where I can attempt my own sample cultures.

Thank you for the follow-up.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

When it comes to urine culture, it cannot detect all the organisms that cause infection. There are some organisms, such as non-culturable bacteria like Mycoplasma and Ureaplasma, as well as viable but non-culturable uropathogens.

My suggestions for you in this situation will be drinking two to three liters of water per day, drinking cranberry juice often, and taking an empiric antimicrobial (tablet Azithromycin 500 mg, one tablet daily for five days, morning or night).

The probable cause can be infection involving the genitourinary tract, and differential diagnoses include genitourinary tract infection.

I hope this will help you.

Thank you.
