Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I am a male, and I suspect genital herpes. There is no pain, but a tickling sensation is felt when the wound heals. Please help me, doctor. Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I will help you with your concern. I went through all the photos you sent (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity). It does not look like herpes. It seems like folliculitis. Folliculitis, commonly known as a boil, is a bacterial infection. To confirm the diagnosis, I need to ask you a few questions. Did you have any pain or burning sensation? Was it filled with pus? Did you have water-filled blisters? Do you have any unsafe sexual exposure? Is this the first episode, or have you had such lesions previously? Kindly revert with answers. Thanks and regards.
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Thanks for the response. It was not painful, and it contained pus. This is the first time I have this. Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
It is folliculitis, a kind of bacterial infection of hair follicles. It can occur due to minor trauma or pull to the hair follicle. It is just a minor infection. It is not herpes, so you do not have to worry about it. Apply Mupirocin antibiotic cream two times daily for three days (consult with the specialist doctor, discuss with him or her and take the medicines with their consent). Thanks and regards.
