Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am a female, assigned female at birth with female systems and body. I have an issue with what you believe to be dysphoria. I am a woman but I do not feel like one. I am not transgender, I am definitely a woman, I just do not feel woman enough. And it is causing me great distress and hindering my everyday life. What would you call this? Is there anything I can do to help?
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
What you are describing sounds like gender dysphoria, which is the distress or discomfort a person may experience due to a mismatch between their gender identity and the sex they were assigned at birth. It is important to know that gender dysphoria affects people of all gender identities, including those who identify as female but do not feel like they fit the stereotypical idea of what it means to be a woman. It is great that you have a good understanding of your gender identity and that you know you are a woman. It is important to remember that there is no one way to be a woman and that everyone's experience of gender is unique. There are several things that you can do to help manage your gender dysphoria. These may include speaking with a therapist, exploring ways to express your gender identity through your appearance, and connecting with others who have similar experiences through support groups or online communities. It is important to take care of your mental health and seek support if you're struggling with gender dysphoria. A therapist can help you explore your feelings and develop coping strategies to manage your distress. They may also be able to provide referrals to other healthcare providers who can support you in your journey. Remember that you are valid and deserve to live as your authentic self, whatever that may look like for you.
Thank toy.
