What can be done to subside my husband's symptoms from GERD and cervical problems?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My husband has some problems, and we are unsure how to do them. He has a GERD problem, due to which he suffers a lot of gastric issues, including a heart-burning sensation and a bad taste in his throat. He also suffers from cervical problems, which cause a lot of pain in his neck, upper back, lower back, arms, and shoulders. We have consulted several doctors in areas like gin gastroenterology, physiotherapy, physician, pulmonology, heart specialist, etc. Also got a series of tests done in the last three to four years, including ECG, treadmill test, basic blood test, urine test, CT scan, etc. The tests did not reveal any major problems, and the pain and uneasiness persisted. He has BP (controlled with medicine), vitamin D deficiency (controlled), sugar (boarderline diabetes), chest pain (left side), and pain in the neck and back. He has a lot of tension and anxiety regarding work and personal life. He is always under the threat that a heart attack may occur anytime. Whenever he hears news of anyone’s dismal, it leaves him anxious and sleepless. He cannot trust anyone near him, and he feels everyone is trying to cheat him somehow. He has stopped feeling happy and frustrated with having medicine and taking more and more precautions with food. Kindly help.

  4. Avoid milk and other dairy products.
  5. Include soya milk in your diet.
  6. Low salt diet.

  8. Avoid alcohol, oily, and junk food items.
  9. Tablet Pantoprazole with Domperidone combination on an empty stomach in the morning unless contraindicated.
  10. Weight reduction if overweight.
  11. Take a break from work and pursue your passion or hobby for some time.
  12. Avoid stressful situations.

Please attach previous reports to guide you appropriately and mention current blood pressure and blood sugar values.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.
