Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 18-year-old male suffering from severe skin fungus, tinea cruris for the last three years, and it is not getting cured completely. It is painful and present near my groin parts spreading along the thighs and stomach. I have taken Itraconazole and Terbinafine for about four months, and after a small cleanup, they reappear. Kindly suggest proper treatment.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com,

I can understand your concern.

Tinea cruris is a fungal infection of the groin that can be painful and itchy.

I suggest you follow the below-mentioned instructions.

  1. Keep the affected area completely dry by using Clotrimazole powder frequently.
  2. Avoid itching or scratching the area.
  3. Change the undergarments regularly.
  4. Avoid excessive sweating and wet clothes.
  5. Do not apply any general or steroid creams like Betnovate, Surfaz ointment (Clotrimazole)
  6. Do not stop the medicine once it subsides. Continue the medication for a long time to completely kill the fungal infection.
  7. Check for diabetes and thyroid levels as they can cause recurrence even after proper treatment.
  8. It can be transferred. But, it is not a dread disease (life-threatening) and almost has no complications.
  9. Because of the development of resistance to Terbinafine (terbinafine) or Fluconazole (Cellulose), the medication might not be acting against the infection completely.
  10. Take tablet Itraconazole 200 mg twice a day and apply KZ (Ketoconazole) cream twice daily for one month.
  11. Kindly consult a specialist, talk to them, and take the medication with their consent.

I hope this information will help you.

Thank you.
