Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 44 years old taking Noriday mini pill for last seven years. It was prescribed to help with heavy menstrual flow. It makes my cycles slightly irregular at 42 to 43 days. I have not been sexually active for over five years. A few weeks ago I felt a sharp stinging pain in my clitoris area while bending forward. I did not give it a second thought until the same type of pain woke me up a few days later. My clitoris is itchy and has a slight burning sensation. The pain has not returned with the same intensity but has been somewhat present as an uncomfortable feeling of rubbing even when nothing is touching the region. I use water only to wash this area and I shower twice daily. Today I gently pulled back the clitoral hood and noticed that the clitoris is the same color as my body skin and not pink like the rest of my vulva. What could have caused this?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Itching on clitoris can be due to fungal infections. Do you have any white vaginal discharge which is itching and foul smelling? Do you have burning sensation or pain while passing urine? Clitoral pain could be due to trauma. If you have rubbed it hard while washing it will be painful because it is a very sensitive organ. Do FBS (fasting blood sugar), PPBS (postprandial blood sugar) blood test on empty stomach tomorrow morning. Nerve-related pain can be seen in diabetes. Do you have diabetes or hypertension, since they can cause such problems? As you are saying that it appears and feels normal, unlikely to be a tumor. Let me know the report tomorrow. Your treatment plan would be;

1. Take tablet Cetirizine orally at night for a week.

2. Apply ointment Clotrimazole on clitoris and vagina twice daily.

3. Avoid intercourse when you are on treatment.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
