Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
My son has got a fever from the morning and I have started with P-250 with 1 teaspoon as his dosage. He is six years old weighing 40 pounds. I have completed the fourth dosage for the day at 11.30 AM. His current temperature shows 102.7 F. Should I go ahead with Meftal-P suspension if the high temp persists? If yes, then what time should I give him that and what would be the right dosage for him?
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Most of the kids do not respond to Paracetamol alone which is present in P-250. I suggest giving syrup Ibugesic plus (Ibuprofen and Paracetamol) two teaspoon which is required for his weight. And this should be repeated every six hours. If the child has a fever between those six hours, you can give Meftal P. This can be repeated every eight hours. Always wait at least two hours after every medication for the fever to reduce. If it does not reduce, then you can give the second medicine. Also, always do tepid sponging of the whole body 30 minutes after giving medicine in case of high fever to dissipate heat faster. If the child develops any other symptoms like cold or cough give symptomatic medication for it. It looks like a viral fever as of now.
Hope this has answered your question.
