Should I take my daughter who is running a fever to urgent care?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My daughter is running a fever, has no cough, and has stomach and headaches. Should I take her into urgent care? It started last night.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Please check the temperature with a thermometer. If the temperature is or more, I suggest you give syrup Crocin DS (Paracetamol 250 mg), 5 ml, every four to six hours. If the temperature is 102 degrees Fahrenheit or more, give syrup Ibugesic Plus (Ibuprofen 100 mg and Paracetamol 162.5 mg) 5 ml when required, or eight hourly. Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with them and take the medicines with their consen. If the temperature stays above 100 degrees Fahrenheit for more than three days or if the temperature crosses 103 degrees Fahrenheit, it is advisable to get evaluated physically by a pediatrician with possible blood investigations based on physical examination.
