Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I am 30 years old, and I weigh 187 pounds. I got wet in the rain yesterday when I came home from work. I have had a fever since last night. Besides that, I cannot take medicine for a cold and cough because I have an allergy to the medicine. But I do not know which medicine I am allergic to because I tried to take Advil, and suddenly I could not breathe, and my eyes swelled, which made it difficult for me to breathe. Right now, I only take an antihistamine every time I have a cold and cough and Paracetamol if ever I have a fever. But I often have a fever and a cold when I lack sleep and eat sweet foods.
Kindly guide.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
If this fever is due to a cold or because you were wet, it usually goes away in two to three days. The medicine you are taking is good enough for fever and cold, but Paracetamol does not help if you develop any other symptoms. I would recommend you do a CBC (complete blood count) test and get antibiotics accordingly. What dosage of Paracetamol are you taking, and how many times a day? You are taking an antihistamine, and it will suppress allergic reactions if there are any. But if your fever continues, then antibiotics or other medicines are required. But for now, Paracetamol is sufficient if you do not have a high fever.
I hope this helps.
Thank you.
