Are blue-light radiation harmful to eyes?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been taking online classes for the last four months, and the screen time is eight hours per day. Yesterday I experienced severe pain generated in my brain, eyes, and whole-body and felt lethargic. My eyes got swollen up. Then I realized that the harmful radiation from the laptop had destroyed my eyes. So I bought blue-ray cut glasses. Please advise.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Do not worry too much. Your eyes are not destroyed. But, yes, too much screen time can cause strain on your eyes. Blue filter lenses are good. You might need to use lubricant eye drops. And reduce screen time as much as possible. Take frequent breaks. It will be fine.
