Why would black and white spots randomly appear and disappear from the optical vision?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had seen many white spots appear like flashes in my vision that disappeared after a few seconds. I have a lot of floaters as well. I also consulted an eye specialist who said it was nothing. I also see a weird dark spot at night when I open my eyes. It covers the center of the vision for a fraction of a second but disappears in less than a second. I also have bad vision, for which I will be getting glasses. What could it be? Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through your query and understood your concern. It seems you suffer from black and white colored spots in front of the eye. This is a common complaint even in the general population that does not warranty any active intervention unless you have experienced a black curtain-like drop of vision or pain and redness of eyes. So, I suggest you do a regular eye checkup once every six months. I hope this has helped you. Thanks and regards.
